Upon the arrival of the Olympic flame at Hong Kong, the Organising Committee rolled out a series of programmes including the Flame Receiving Ceremony, the Launching Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony of the Torch Relay. Various community celebration programmes were also held along the Torch Relay route. The Home Affairs Department and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department liaised with local organisations and non-governmental organisations respectively (e.g. schools, community centres and residents' associations) and invited them to participate in the relevant celebration programmes and cheer the torchbearers along the relay route. Members of the public watched the spectacular event through television broadcasts at home, bearing witness to the historical moment of the Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong.
