An icy land lost at the bottom of the world, Antarctica is the most remote and hostile of the seven continents. Even with modern icebreakers, travelling to the freezing waters of the Antarctic may still be life threatening.

The Omnimax film "Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure" tells the extraordinary true story of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's legendary but ill-fated British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition from 1914 to 1916. While never accomplishing its goal of the first crossing of the Antarctic continent, this expedition has become a larger-than-life testament to heroism and human endurance, with all 28 men surviving nearly two years in the barren, frigid Antarctic when their ship sank.

In addition to retracing the journey of Shackleton and his men, "Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure" features the original still photography and 35mm motion-picture footage for the Endurance expedition taken by the expedition photographer and cinematographer Frank Hurley. Known as a man who would go to any extreme to get a shot, Hurley even dove into the icy waters to retrieve his treasured images from the sinking wreck of the ship. These images, together with the giant-screen re-creation of the journey, will transport viewers back in time to experience this greatest survival story of all time.
