An unforgettable journey across the South Pacific - from Australia's Great Barrier Reef to the majestic islands of Tahiti

A silvery wall of sharks darts around the corner straight at you. Turning, you find yourself in a dazzling marine metropolis, a kaleidoscopic realm of tiny life forms living below the surface in peaceful partnerships. An octopus hides in plain sight among the corals, perfectly camouflaged, while a lionfish waves its feathery, but poisonous, spines. Suddenly, a 140 kg potato cod, feeling threatened, changes its spots right before your eyes. And meanwhile, a cleaner shrimp, wiggling its tiny antennae, swims boldly towards your mouth looking for dinner between your teeth.

An Orange-Fin Anemonefish snug among
the toxic tentacles of its host sea anemone in Tahiti.

A researcher measures the size of Acropora colony
on recovering reef at Gau, Fiji. By returning to
this site at a later date and repeating the measurements,
marine biologists can measure growth rates of the different corals and compare them to rates at other sites.

Welcome to a world unlike any other, a world that has been called the "soul of the sea." This is life on a coral reef. The story of the reefs and how they've come to face worldwide decline is brought to life in "Coral Reef Adventure", an all-new Omnimax film that takes audiences on a fantastic voyage of discovery to the South Pacific's reefs, revealing both their remarkable contribution to life on earth and the imminent dangers they are facing right now. Dive with explorers to see some of the world's largest, most beautiful and most endangered coral reef and learn how we can contribute to protect these fragile and essential ecosystems.

Wherever reefs are healthy, life abound.

The cone-like spiral plumages are tentacles of "Christmas tree worms". Much of the worms are anchored inside the holes bored into live calcareous corals.

Photographers survey the reefs of Tahiti and Moorea from the air for signs of coral bleaching or large schools of sharks.

Michele experiences symbiosis firsthand by mimicking the posture of a fish ready for a dental check-up by a cleaner shrimp during filming in Fiji.
