ˇ§Born to be Wildˇ¨ is an inspired story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. It documents the life of some young, orphaned orangutans and elephants after being saved, and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them ˇV saving endangered species one life at a time.
In Indonesia, orangutans inhabiting in Borneo are on the verge of extinction as, apart from poaching, their habitats continue to be disrupted by illegal logging and
oil palm plantations. And on the other side of the world, elephants have been equally targeted by ivory poachers in Kenya, a country suffering from wars and economic degradation for generations. After the parent animals are killed, the orphans are put to the brink of death. A world-renowned primatologist Dr Biruté Mary Galdikas and a celebrated elephant authority Dr Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick devoted their lifetime to rescue and rehabilitate these orphaned animals with an ultimate goal to return them back to the wild.
The Omnimax film ˇ§Born to be Wildˇ¨ transports the audience into the lush rainforests of Borneo and across the rugged Kenyan savanna. Here we will see how these unpredictable, mischievous ˇ§toddlersˇ¨ with extraordinary intelligence live with their keepers, grow with the company, learn the surviving skills and techniques, and are finally released to the wild where they belong to.
