Special Exhibition¡GChinese Manned Space Technology Exhibition

¡@

The Chinese Manned Space Technology Exhibition now under way at the Hong Kong Space Museum will be extended to December 1.

Starting on Monday, October 27, the exhibition will be enriched with a display on China's first manned space mission by the Shenzhou 5 Spacecraft and astronaut Yang Liwei.

The Shenzhou 5 Spacecraft lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre on October 15 at 9am; its recovery module landed safely in Inner Mongolia on October 16 at 6.23am. The success of this first manned space flight opened a new page in the history of China and her space programme.

The exhibition surveys the history of China's manned space programme. It takes a detailed look at the technology of the spacecraft and their escape systems and features models of the Shenzhou Spacecraft and the Changzheng 2F Rocket. Visitors can also watch a video of the Shenzhou 5 launch.

Admission to the exhibition is free.

Exhibition Period : 15 October 2003 to 1 December 2003
