1. The Competition is open to all residents of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
2. All entries should be submitted to the Library of Hong Kong Space Museum during office hours (Mon to Fri: 9:00am - 1:00pm, 2:00pm - 5:00pm; Sat: 9:00am - 12:00 noon) from 1 March 2005 to 31 May 2005. Entries by post will be accepted according to the date chop of the Post Office. Please mark "Astrophotographic Competition 2005" on the envelope.
3. Each participant can enter more than one category or group, but can only submit one entry for each category or group and the entries must be different.
4. Only full-time primary and secondary school students are eligible to participate in the Student Category. Each student can only submit one entry and must submit in the name of the school. There is no limit to the number of entries by each school. The cash award will also be given to the school.
5. One duly filled entry form should be submitted together with each entry.
6. Participants should submit two copies of photograph for each entry.
7. Except Astrophotographic Project Group, entries should be submitted in the form of colour or black-and-white hardcopy, the size should be 20cm x 25cm (8" x 10" or 8R) in RC photographic paper. Entries in other forms are not accepted.
8. If the entry has undergone computer image processing, a detailed listing of all the software used and every enhancement applied must also be submitted in either Chinese or English.
9. For Astrophotographic Project Group, entries may be submitted either in single person or a group of no more than five members. Entries should comprise a series of at least two photographic images depicting an astronomical observation or a comparison in astrophotographic technique. A report written in either Chinese or English describing the objectives, procedures and results of the project is required.
10. Participants will have to submit the original films or computer files of the entries upon request of the Organizer.
11. The Organizer may invite participants to attend interviews with the panel of adjudicators. Participants may be requested to explain and demonstrate the photo shooting and image processing procedures. Participants who fail to explain or demonstrate the procedures to the satisfaction of adjudicators may not be eligible for any awards.
12. Entries that have received awards in other competitions are not accepted.
13. The Organizer reserves the right to reject or disqualify any entries without giving any reason. Should there be any disputes, the decision of the panel of adjudicators will be final.
14. The winning entries will become the property of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and will not be returned. The LCSD shall have at all times the right to use the winning entries and their duplicates for any purpose in any way without the prior consent of or paying of any fee to the participants.
15. Unsuccessful entries should be collected by participants within three months from the announcement of the results at the Library of Hong Kong Space Museum during office hours (Mon to Fri: 9:00am - 1:00pm, 2:00pm - 5:00pm; Sat: 9:00am - 12:00 noon). The Organizer is not responsible for the safe custody of uncollected items beyond the collection period.
16. The Organizer will not be responsible for any damages caused to the entries.
17. Staff and their family members of the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Science Museum are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
18. The rules of the Competition are subject to amendment without prior notice.
