In Hong Kong, teachers and school astronomy societies
are facing a lot of problems in promoting astronomy. Not only
do they lack resources or equipment, but they also have difficulties to identify suitable books and teaching aids. |

|
|
In order to help alleviate such problems, the Hong Kong Space Museum
has established a resource centre.
It is equipped with various kinds of astronomy
publications, instruments and teaching aids. The establishment
of this centre will provide support to organisers for
promotion of astronomy and space science. |
Inside the centre users can read astronomy magazines and books in the library corner. They can also access astronomical information from the Internet, software packages or multimedia resources with the computers and audio-visual equipment. In the future, certain telescopes and teaching materials may be available for borrowing. With those supports, we hope that teachers or school astronomy societies will find
organising stargazing and other astronomy activities much easier than before.
|
The resource centre is open for reservation by schools or school astronomy societies. The remaining timeslot will be available for public
visit with free admission. No reservation is required. However, we advise that the public should call the centre
to check the availability of free timeslots before visiting. Borrowing of telescopes and teaching materials is limited to in-service teachers and school astronomy societies only. Please call 2734 2744 for the borrowing procedure. |
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
