Mirror Images Extravaganza
Question:
How are the visual effects
in the Country of Gentlemen created?
Instructions:
Look through the hole
on Tang Xiao-shan's head to observe her image inside the
windows. Please find:
a. a person who cannot see himself/herself
b. a laterally inverted person
c. an upside-down person
d. a person whose body axe is rotated 90¢X
Why?
Orthogonal mirrors have a very
interesting property. That is, when you rotate the mirrors,
the image will always rotate twice as much. In addition,
if your line of sight is perpendicular to the line of
intersection between the mirrors, then no matter where
you are, your image will always be visible as long as
you can see the line of intersection (note that the angle
between the orthogonal mirrors must be accurate). |
Vanishing Point
Two vertical mirrors inclined at an angle greater
than 90¢Xare placed inside the windows. |
Reversal
Two vertical mirrors perpendicular to each other are
placed inside the windows. |
 |
Upside-down
Two horizontal mirrors perpendicular to each other
are placed inside the windows. |
 |
Sidling
Two mirrors are placed inside the windows. They are
mutually perpendicular and at the same time inclined at
45¢Xwith the ground. |
Twins
Two vertical mirrors inclined at an angle less than
90¢Xare placed inside the windows. |
 |
Total Objection
Inside the windows three mirrors are placed mutually
perpendicular to one another resembling the corner of
a cube. |
Side Effect
Two vertical mirrors inclined at 45¢Xwith each
other are placed inside the windows. |
Watch Your Back

Please note that images formed by this mirror assembly
are laterally inverted. |
