Funny Mirrors

Question:
Can you alter the body shape of Tang Xiao-shan?

Instructions:
1. Look through the hole on the head of Tang Xiao-shan and observe her images in the mirrors.
2. Which mirror will make her look fatter, slimmer, higher or shorter?

Why?
To an observer standing in front of a plane mirror, the image formed has always the same size as the observer. It appears smaller only because it is farther away. On the other hand, convex mirrors always form diminished images, so they are ideal for applications in which a broad field of view is required. The size of images formed by concave mirrors depends on how far the objects are located from the mirror foci.
