Stamp Sheetlet Design Competition in Honour of Professor Charles Kao's Being Awarded the Nobel Prize
Result Announcement
To commemorate Prof. Charles Kao's being awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics, and to encourage the creativity and artistic talents of the public, the Hong Kong Science Museum of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department organized the "Stamp Sheetlet Design Competition in Honour of Professor Charles Kao's Being Awarded the Nobel Prize". We have received a total of 389 entries, including 141 in the Open Division, 128 in the Secondary School Division and 120 in the Primary School Division.

Upon deliberation of the adjudicator panel, the winning entries are listed as follows:

Open Division
Champion: Chow Siu Fung
First runner-up: Lung Wai Sang
Second runner-up: Mo Chi Hung
Merit Prizes: Leung Wah Tat, Tang Pui Chu, Lo Kin Fan, Chiu Wai Chun, Wong Kwok Ling

Student Division
A. Secondary School Division

First runner-up: Jane Wong

In addition, the adjudicator panel has selected the design of Chow Siu Fung (Open Division), Lung Wai Sang (Open Division), Ng Shuk Mei (Secondary School Division) and Cheng Lai Chong (Primary School Division) among the winning entries for recommendation to the Hongkong Post Office for production of the Definitive Stamp Sheetlet (No. 1): Congratulations to Professor Charles K. KAO on his award of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics to be issued in 2010, subject to the final decision of the Hongkong Post and necessary consideration and arrangement on intellectual property.

"Stamp Sheetlet Design Competition in Honour of Prof Charles Kao's Being Awarded the Nobel Prize" Prize Presentation Ceremony

The prize presentation ceremony for "Stamp Sheetlet Design Competition in Honour of Prof. Charles Kao's Being Awarded the Nobel Prize" was held at the Hong Kong Science Museum on 2 March 2010. Officiating guests of the Ceremony included Prof. Charles K. Kao and Mrs. May Wan Kao, Mr. Tsang Tak-sing (Secretary for Home Affairs), Mr. Clement Cheung (Postmaster General), Mrs. Betty Fung (Director of Leisure and Cultural Services), and Dr. Kan Tai-keung, the representative of the adjudication panel. The design by Ng Shuk Mei, the Champion of secondary school division, was finally selected by the Hongkong Post for production of the Definitive Stamp Sheetlet (No. 1): Congratulations to Professor Charles K. KAO on his award of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics to be issued in 2010.
