“The Deep” Exhibition

Infinite darkness. Bone-chilling cold. A boundless, silent abyss filled with strange creatures and exotic phenomena.

Oceans cover about 71% of the Earth's surface area, but in terms of volume, they make-up 98% of the habitable space on the planet. Without question, the majority of life on Earth lives in the seas. Yet, for all that scientists have learned thus far, we have only just begun to scratch the surface of what the oceans have to teach us.

Hidden away in the depths, an amazing menagerie of alien creatures lives their lives in silence, far from the light of the surface. Only very recently have we developed the technology necessary to journey to this dark world, and what we have found there could not have been imagined.

The Deep invites you to discover the true “final frontier” of our planet: the deep oceans. Using stunning images and invaluable specimens, the exhibition will allow you to descend through the depths to see a side of life that exists nowhere else on Earth.

The exhibition The Deep invites you to discover this last paradise of our planet. Over 30 specimens and 60 photos, many of which are shot for the very first time, will be displayed to depict the various unfamiliar and fragile ecosystems existing in the realm. Combining the latest scientific researches with amazing colour imagery, the exhibition allows you to peer into the abyss teeming with life that is beyond our reach and imagination.

No extra fee is required for museum visitors of permanent exhibitions

Standard Ticket : $25
Group Ticket : $17.5 (for each purchase of 20 or more Standard Tickets)
Concessionary Ticket : $12.5 (applicable to full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above)
Free admission for children under 4 years old accompanied by an adult with ticket
Free admission on Wednesdays

“Sports Arena” Exhibition

The 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing soon. Participating in this grand occasion, Hong Kong is the city where the Olympic equestrian events will take place. As the extravaganza is approaching, will you have a growing interest in various sports activities?

The “Sport Arena” exhibition features dozens of exhibits comprising many interactive activities, introducing to the visitors the nature of, skills involved in and science principles behind a range of sports activities. You can try to pitch like a leaguer, sprint in a 10-metre race, spike in a virtual volleyball match, shoot in a simulated soccer game, and be judges at the Olympics. The exhibits will not only enable you to enjoy the sport activities through hands-on experience, but also facilitate you to learn the science principles behind and health benefits arising out of the associated activities.
