Great Migration : Race to Survive (International Museum Day 2012, Hong Kong - Science Museum Programmes)
Migrations are ticking clocks: every day, countless animals must move or die, driven by changing seasons, and a changing climate; they are racing to reach their destination, before it's too late, to breed, feed or simply stay alive. From the ever changing Arctic ice floes to the salt pans of Botswana, trillions of creatures are compelled to journey - for the sake of their own survival and their legacy. But for animals ranging from walruses to whale sharks, zebras to orangutans, pronghorn to plankton -- every day is a race against time.

With this film provided by National Geographic Channel, we invite you to join this exciting journey.

Test Your Brain
“Test Your Brain” series is a groundbreaking 3-part popular science special film showsthat will use interactive experiments and tricks to reveal how our brains create the illusion of a seamless reality. These exciting and revealing experiments will provide a fascinating window into the inner-workings of the brain and some of the world's leading experts will explain how and why they work. We'll also explore cutting-edge science in high-tech laboratories and meet fascinating real people with extraordinary brains. The three episodes will be themed around topics of attention, sensory perception (sight and sound), and memory.

Test Your Brain: Pay Attention!
The episode on 'attention' will be shot in the attention-demanding city of Las Vegas. Our guide for this episode's journey into the brain will be a master magician David Copperfield whose stock and trade is manipulating an audience's attention to produce amazing illusions. Magicians like David understand the psychology of the human mind as well as any scientist and we will find out how they use this knowledge of the brain to perform their tricks. And our scientific experts will draw on their insight into attention to create illusions rivaling those of the master magicians. Believe it or not, the bottleneck of attention that filters the flood if stimuli entering the brain is so limited, that a gorilla can walk through the room right in front of your eyes and you won't even see it…prepare to be amazed!

Test Your Brain: You Won't Believe Your Eyes
The episode on 'sensory perception' will be shot at a studio in Hollywood where filmmakers use images and sound to create compelling illusions of reality. You'll be surprised to find out that you eyes and ears are constantly creating an illusion of what the world around us is really like. Color, light, motion, and depth are constructed inside the brain and these experiences are easily manipulated. Do your ears really hear hidden messages in songs played in reverse? Is it possible that we can make you experience the sensation of being touched by watching the TV? Can a blind man 'see' like a bat? Our experts and the artists of the entertainment industry will be our guides as we hack the brain and trick the senses.

Test Your Brain: Memory
If you witnessed a crime, could you be sure you recognised the perpetrator? Our memories are surprisingly vulnerable, and our recollection of names, numbers and details can often be incorrect at the most crucial of moments. Former detective Greg Walsh reveals how what you believe to be true can often be alarmingly false.
