Prototype Zone

The Prototype Zone will be closed for renewal from 13th November 2014 until mid-December 2014. Visitors could get the detailed information at the Information Counter. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.





Prototype Zone is a small gallery showcasing new interactive exhibits primarily designed and produced by the Hong Kong Science Museum. Different topics will be introduced on a regular basis. Visitors can try on these hands-on exhibits and express their views on the design and performance of these exhibits. Their opinions will serve as the reference for the Museum to enhance the setting up of the permanent exhibits in the future.

Currently on display are nine fantastic exhibits on biodiversity. Through the exhibits "Watching Plants Grow" and "Life in a Drop of Water", visitors are able to appreciate the growth of plant and the diversity of microorganisms. Ever wonder the structural differences in terms of shapes and functions among human hands and some animals, even merely for having the same five fingers, visitors can grasp the chance using the exhibit "Limbs Evolution". They can further "Code a Creature" in this simulating exhibit to see a combined creature as a result of combining a series of DNA sections. And they would be pleased to find out the lengths of DNA of a number of animals in the "Animal Genome". Come and experience the thrilling wonders of the variety of life on display!
