Ticketing Information

The following initiatives for the fee-charging museums of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department come into effect from 1 August 2016 -

  • The permanent exhibitions of five fee-charging museums (i.e. Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art Note, Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence and Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum) are opened to all free of charge;
  • The permanent exhibitions of the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Space Museum Note are opened to full-time students free of charge;
  • The admission charges for the permanent exhibitions of the Hong Kong Science Museum are revised to $20 for standard ticket, $14 for group ticket and $10 for concessionary ticket; and
  • The charges for annual museum passes are revised to $100 for family pass, $50 for individual pass and $25 for concessionary pass. Half-yearly, monthly and weekly museum passes are no longer available.

Note: The Hong Kong Space Museum (permanent exhibition halls only) and the Hong Kong Museum of Art are currently closed for renovation and are targeted to be re-opened in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Permanent Exhibition Hall Admission Fee

  1. Standard Ticket : $20
  2. Group Ticket : $14 (special rate of Standard Ticket for groups of 20 people or more per visit)
  3. Concessionary Ticket : $10 (people with disabilities (and one accompanying-carer) and senior citizens aged 60 or above)*
  • Free admission for children under 4 years old accompanied by an adult with ticket
  • Free admission on Wednesdays
  • Free admission for full-time students starting from 1 August 2016 *

Museum Pass

  1. Unlimited admission to the permanent and special exhibitions (unless otherwise specified) of museums under Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD Museums) during the validity period of Museum Pass.

Application for Waiver of Admission Fee

  1. Kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, post-secondary institutions, universities, charitable organisations and non-profit-making organisations (except private schools offering educational courses such as tutorial, commercial, language and computer courses) registered in Hong Kong arranging group visits of 20 or more visitors, or groups of 10 or more people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above, may apply for waiver of admission charge. Application should be made at least 2 weeks before the date of visit and will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis subject to availability.

*Concessionary Rate:
Persons paying concessionary rate may be requested by museum staff to produce a valid document for verification of eligibility. Students may be requested to produce a valid document. If proof of current full-time student status is not shown on the document, museum staff reserves the right to request the student concerned to provide other evidence to prove his/her student status. Personalized Octopus card with "Student Status" is not accepted.
