Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre
| Public Programme at Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre "Historic Buildings on Magnet" Workshop Do you know about the heritage buildings, namely Former Kowloon British School, Former Whitfield Barracks and Old Ping Shan Police Station? Built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they were respectively for the purposes of education, military and maintaining public safety. Constructed in simple style, the buildings are the blending of British colonial architectural style, and local materials and craftsmanship, so as to meet the environmental need of Hong Kong. Nowadays, the buildings have been restored and respectively converted into Antiquities and Monuments Office, Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre and Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery cum Heritage Trail Visitors Centre, with an aim to conserve local heritage and promote heritage preservation. |
