"Remaking Hong Kong: Architecture as Culture"
Response Exhibition of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale Hong Kong Exhibition: Fabrica Cultura

Organizers: The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Hong Kong Arts Development Council
Funding Organization: Commerce and Economic Development Bureau
Co-organizer: Antiquities and Monuments Office, LCSD

Hong Kong participated in the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition for the second time between 12 September and 23 November in 2008 with the theme Fabrica Cultura (Culture Fabricate): Hong Kong in Venice. The Hong Kong exhibition, located in the Campo della Tana of Arsenale, was fortunate to be chosen by the Guardian (18 September 2008) as one of ten things not to miss in the biennale.  It was literally a workshop/factory of ideas that interpreted architecture as culture by twelve teams of creative professionals according to the six sub-themes of object, building, landscape, city, media and text.

Having made its impact overseas, the exhibition is now remounted as a response exhibition in Hong Kong, with the aim that exploratory ideas presented in the exhibition would contribute to the advancement of architecture as an art form as well as an exemplary creative industry for the building and development of Hong Kong.
