Terms of Reference
A. The Antiquities Advisory Board shall advise the Antiquities Authority:
i. on whether an item should be declared as a monument or a proposed monument under Sections 3(1) and 2A(1) respectively of the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance (Cap. 53) (the Ordinance); and
ii. on any matters relating to antiquities, proposed monuments or monuments or referred to it for consultation under Section 2A(1), Section 3(1) or Section 6(4).
B. In addition, the Antiquities Advisory Board may, from time to time, advise the Antiquities Authority:
i. on measures to promote the restoration and conservation of historic buildings and structures, including the annual programme of restoration works;
ii. on measures to promote the conservation, and where necessary, the investigation of archaeological sites, including the grant of licences to excavate and search for antiquities under Section 13 of the Ordinance; and
iii. on measures to promote awareness of, and concern for the conservation of Hong Kong's heritage.
