Old Pathological Institute
(Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences)
Built in 1906, it was the first institute of bacteriology and had played an important role in medical services in Hong Kong. In 1972, the Institute was relocated to a new site at Victoria Road; the old building was then used as a storeroom for the Pathology Service of the Health Department. In 1995, it was transferred to the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences Society and became a museum open to the public. The Old Pathological Institute was declared a monument in 1990.
