CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP
Power) has proposed the construction of an electric substation
nearby So Kwun Wat Road. To preserve the cultural heritage in
the So Kwun Wat archaeological site, the Office invited experts
of the School of Archaeological and Museology, Peking University
to jointly conduct a large-scale rescue excavation at the site
in 2000. The Office and CLP Power present a permanent exhibition
at the So Kwun Wat station to illustrate the archaeological
work and discoveries in the site. Replicas of artefacts ranging
from Neolithic Period to Ming dynasty are also displayed. It
is hoped that through this exhibition public understanding of
local archaeological work and heritage could be enhanced.
