Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA)
Following the recommendation of Chief Executive in the Policy Address, in order to fully implement heritage conservation , the project proponents and relevant works departments of all new capital works projects will be required to consider whether their projects will affect sites or buildings of historic and archaeological significance (referred as "heritage sites" below) from 1 January 2008 onwards. If the answer is in the affirmative, then an HIA will be required to be conducted so that the conservation of historic sites and buildings will be given due consideration in the project planning stage.
