Archaeology is a scientific study of history carried out by analyzing physical remains of human activity in the past. The remains can be various kinds of artifacts such as stone hammers, stone ornaments and fragments of pottery basin, or features like houses, forts and graves. Archaeologists use scientific methods to locate sites of archaeological potential both on land and underwater. They excavate, analyze and record archaeological finds systematically, and utilize this information to explain the ways of life of people in the past.

The study of archaeology is of paramount need and importance for every society today. It enables members of society to better understand the history and cultural transformation of their own place by acquiring information of archaeological finds that enhance their sense of belonging to a shared community.
