Metal helmet worn by Hong Kong firefighters, late 19th century.

The Hong Kong Fire Brigade, circa 1890s.

Auxiliary fire crew on board a fireboat, early 1950s. The auxiliary fire brigade supported the regular firemen during firefighting and rescue operations.

The Alexander Grantham brass bell
This brass bell was originally located on the fire deck of the Alexander Grantham. Whenever the fireboat dropped anchor or was adrift in thick fog, the crew would toll the bell every minute to notify other vessels of its presence and prevent collisions.

The Alexander Grantham launch ceremony held at Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock on 22 December 1952.

This bronze plate from the wheelhouse of the Alexander Grantham is engraved with the name "Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Co Ltd" and its year of completion, "1953". It serves as the ship's production certificate.

The Alexander Grantham puts on a welcoming water spray performance as the Seawise University enters Hong Kong waters in 1971.

Breathing apparatus mask

This was part of the equipment on board the Alexander Grantham from the 1970s to the 1980s. The mask would allow fire personnel to work in environments lacking oxygen or full of toxic gases. Printed on the bag are the letters "FBT AG", an abbreviation for Fireboat Alexander Grantham.

Morse code signalling lamp

This old-style communications instrument was used on the Alexander Grantham from the 1950s to the 1960s. The crew of the fireboat used this signalling lamp to manually send Morse code signals to exchange messages. Printed on the wooden box are the letters ''F.B.A.G.", an abbreviation for Fireboat Alexander Grantham.
