The exhibition series ¡§Glimpses of Hong Kong¡¨ presented by the Airport Authority Hong Kong has been very warmly received since it was launched in June 2010, and to extend and develop the project a new programme entitled ¡§Memories We Share ¡V Hong Kong in the 1960s and 1970s¡¨, supported by the Hong Kong Museum of History, was open to the public in early March. As urban development continued apace in the 1960s and 1970s, new customs and practices emerged to make their mark on Hong Kong¡¦s way of life, social atmosphere and popular entertainment. The people of the territory began to experience a lifestyle that, in both material and spiritual terms, was increasingly sophisticated. One result of that was a growing awareness of and quest for a distinctive local identity. The rich collection of photographs featured in this exhibition takes us back to Hong Kong at this pivotal time and introduces to today¡¦s youngsters and visitors the many and varied facets of the memories shared by the city¡¦s older generations.
