Hong Kong Heritage Museum (HKHM) is a museum complex featuring different aspects of history, art, design and culture. As design is one of the major collections, HKHM is dedicated to promoting design through collecting, researching and programming.

Since its debut in 2001, ‘Hong Kong International Poster Triennial’ has borne witness to and documented the development of local and international poster design through competition, exhibition and forum.

‘Touch ― Hong Kong International Poster Triennial 2017’ is now calling for entries. Designers from all countries and regions are welcome to participate. No entry fee is required. For details of the competition, please browse Competition Details and the Website of Past Poster Triennials.

Competition

Hong Kong Heritage Museum is now organising an international poster design competition. Entries will be submitted under four categories: ‘Ideology’, ‘Promotion of Cultural Events’, ‘Commercial and Advertising’ and ‘Thematic’. Five prominent international designers have been invited to form a judging panel. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of International Council of Design (ico-D).

Gold, Silver and Bronze Award will be selected for each category. Five international judges will each select one outstanding entry from all entries for receiving the Judge Awards.

Aim of The Event

    To establish Hong Kong as a world city in the arena of collecting and promoting poster design;

  • 2

    To assemble a distinct international poster collection; and

  • 3

    To foster graphic design education and culture exchange with other countries and regions.

‘Touch ― Hong Kong International Poster Triennial 2017’ exhibition will be presented in Hong Kong Heritage Museum to exhibit all selected entries in 2017/ 2018. An exhibition catalogue including all the selected entries will be published to document the event.

An array of posters designed by the five international judges will also be featured in the exhibition to showcase their creativities and achievements in poster design.

This will be a valuable experience for the Hong Kong public and great encouragement to the selected entrants to be able to exhibit side by side with the international judges.

Last HKIPT Exhibition Highlights

Forum

Forum

To enhance academic discussion and ideas exchange on poster design, a forum will be organised in Hong Kong Heritage Museum. World renowned designers will be invited as speakers. All entrants, design students and interested parties are welcome to attend and exchange views and insight about design.

Forum of Last HKIPT

Mr. Javin Mo was the moderator of the forum of 'Vision ― Hong Kong International Poster Triennial 2014'. Professor Wang Shaoqiang, Mr. Masayoshi Kodaira, Mr. Tommy Li, Mr. Hei Yiyang were invited as the speakers of the forum to exchange views and insight about design with the participants.
