The historical documents conservators are responsible
for the preservation and restoration of historical documents,
books and manuscripts. Besides devising and implementing
conservation programmes for the collections, conservators
also oversee the environmental monitoring programmes
for paper artifacts stores and implement pest control
programmes for paper-based materials. In connection
with such, the nitrogen fumigation chamber is
the equipment which the conservators will resort to
for the collection disinfestation process. Also, the
two enhanced suction
tables in the Conservation Office allows for local cleaning/deacidification
treatment or stain removal for the collections.
