The Scholarship is set up with the generosity of AXA ART Asia to subsidise the travel and accommodation costs for practising museum and conservation professionals to attend the Symposium, through which they would be able to keep abreast of the latest advances in the field, exchange experience with their counterparts as well as to establish professional links with the conservation community worldwide.
Eligibility To be eligible, applicants must be:
Practicing conservators, scientists, researchers, curators, or equivalent currently engaged by a museum, conservation institution, research institution or cultural organization with at least four years of in-service experience.
Coverage The Scholarship will cover the following:
A subsistence allowance of HK$3,000
Reimbursement for the cost of air tickets capped at a ceiling of HK$2,000, HK$6,000 or HK$9,000 each, depending on the region of the applicant's institution and upon provision of booking receipts. Please refer to the guidelines on the application form for details.
Selection Criteria Assessment will be based on the following criteria:
Applicant's background and current involvement in textiles, including conservation, research, exhibition or collection management
Relevance of the symposium theme to her/his work
Potential benefits of the attendance to her/his career
Preference will be given to applicants who are in the middle management or holding positions of influence to cascade knowledge and develop colleagues in their institutions.
Notes Successful applicants are required to:
Provide flight booking receipts (or equivalent) no later than 30 September 2017 as well as to attend the symposium in full and in person to receive the fund
Participate in a lunch reception on the second day of the symposium
Submit a short report on their event participation by end 2017, which may be published as well as retained by AXA ART Asia.
