Notes on Group Visits

1.    Visitors should arrive the earliest 10 minutes advance or the latest 10 minutes after the proposed time. The Museum reserves the right to cancel the reception if any parties arrive too early or too late.

2.    The number of visitors must not exceed the number as stated in the confirmation letter, otherwise admission fee will be charged.

3.    Please avoid bringing heavy luggage to the Museum as storage facilities are limited.

4.    With its extensive land coverage and hilly terrain with most of which outdoor, visitors are advised to take into consideration of their general health and physical fitness when planning their route of visit in the Museum. We suggest that the following routes may be followed:

Essence tour  
(1.5 hours)
Reception hall -> Redoubt -> Reception hall -> Military vehicle and gun display area -> Gunpowder factory. There are fewer steps and steep slopes found along this route and is suitable for all visitors.

Leisure tour  
(2.5 hours)
Reception hall -> Redoubt -> Historical trail (Central Battery -> Ruined structure -> West battery -> Gunpowder factory -> Military vehicle and gun display area). There are many steps and steep slopes found along this route and is recommended for visitors with strong physique.

Adventure tour  
(3.5 hours)
Reception hall -> Redoubt (South and North caponiers included) -> Historical trail (all attractions included). There are quite number of steps and steep slopes found along this route and it is recommended for visitors in good health, and who are interested in historical military sites.

5.    Most original structures in the museum are only moderately restored to conserve their features and historical value. Visitors are reminded of the unleveled steps, not to climb over fences, and to take care of children.

6.    For the sake of security and the safety of visitors, CCTV system is installed in the museum.

7.    The light level inside the galleries has been carefully set to protect exhibits. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

8.    Each guided tour could only serve 20 to 30 visitors due to limited space inside the galleries. The docent may terminate the tour at their own discretion if the above quota is exceeded or if there is any misconduct on the part of the visitors.

9.    Smoking in the museum is strictly prohibited (outdoor areas included).

10.    Please do not eat and drink in the galleries; please do not use flashlight and camera stand for photo taking and recording in the galleries.

11.    Please do not scream and run about in the Museum.

12.    Please keep the Museum clean and do not damage plants.

13.    Visitors should report immediately to museum staff or security guards nearby in case of sickness or accidents.

14.    If Thunderstorm Warning, Red Rainstorm Warning or Typhoon Signal No.3 is issued, the Historical Trail will be closed temporarily and outdoor guided tour will also be cancelled. Duty officer may change the tour indoor which depends on the weather condition.

15.    The Museum will be closed when Typhoon Signal No.8 is issued or Black Rainstorm Warning is issued, and appointments for group visits will be cancelled. If the warning is issued during normal opening hours, outdoor area will be closed. Visitors touring outdoor should go to safe area or leave the Museum under instruction of museum staff.
