Military Vehicle and Gun Display Area

Military Vehicle and Gun Display Area

Located next to the Gunpowder Factory is the Military Vehicle and Gun Display Area where a British Comet tank, an armoured personnel carrier, a scout car, a 10 inch breech loading gun and a 14.75 inch smooth bore muzzle loading gun are on display. The British Comet Mark I tank was produced for the British Army during the Second World War and only this one was retained in Hong Kong. The British Saracen Mark II armoured personnel carrier and the British Ferret Mark II scout car originally belonged to the Royal Hong Kong Regiment and were transferred to the Museum. The 10 inch breech loading gun, weighing 32 tonnes, was mounted on the Upper Belcher's Battery in Western District to guard the western approach to the Victoria Harbour.
