Laurence Tam Memorial Art Award – Visitor's Choice
The "Laurence Tam Memorial Art Award" is a specially introduced award for this year's Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards (HKCAA) 2012, in addition to the original "Achievement Awards", "Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards" and "Young Artist Awards". This award, named after Mr Laurence Tam (1933 – 2013), our late Chief Curator of the Museum of Art, is made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Friends of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, in warm memory of Mr Tam's outstanding and selfless contributions to the promotion of local art and the development of museum services in Hong Kong.
To carry forward Mr Tam's spirit in promoting Hong Kong art and in raising the public's awareness and participation in art, the winning artwork for "Laurence Tam Memorial Art Award" is to be determined by vote results of the visitors. You are earnestly invited to go to the voting station at 1/F Lobby to collect and complete your voting form to express your support and encouragement to your favourite artwork among the 83 selected entries on show in the exhibition (the 14 artworks already awarded are not included). The voting forms will be counted after the exhibition period and the artwork which receives the most votes will win and the artist will receive a travel grant of HK$25,000 for overseas visit and cultural exchange. Besides, 5 participating voters will be selected by drawing lots, and an exhibition catalogue will be presented to each of them as a souvenir. We thank you sincerely for your support and participation. Further information will be accessible via the Museum webpage and HKCAA 2012 exhibition fanpage in due course.
To give your support and encouragement to Hong Kong artists, please cast your vote today!
