"Bonds of Memory: Wan Qingli's Collection of Chinese Art Given by His Teachers and Friends Exhibition" Guided Tour

The Friends of the Hong Kong Museum of Art had a special guided tour on January 7, 2014 to the exhibition " Bonds of Memory: Wan Qingli's Collection  of Chinese Art Given by His Teachers and Friends Exhibition"

This exhibition consists of the personal collection from Prof. Wan who is himself an artist. It includes paintings, calligraphy, seals and letters by pivotal artists of the 20th century. Growing up under exceptional political circumstances in China, Wan went through years of anguish during the Cultural Revolution followed by a period of reform and opening-up. The works from his teachers and friends contain memories of their acquaintance and lifelong friendship. Wan once wrote, "Collecting can still be unrelated to money; it is a testament of affection and affinity."

The participants found the tour very interesting and enhanced their understanding of the Cultural Revolution.
