Some 250 members and guests attended the event which began with a display of Andy Warhol-like photos of all attendees, followed by a cocktail reception and private tour of the exhibition. The Museum lobby was transformed into a Studio 54 space with special lighting effects and music of the 1970s. A surprising and artistic dinner menu delighted guests, many of whom took photos of the dishes as mementos. Dinner was followed by a live auction of original artworks conducted by Christie's, while a silent auction featured the works of local artists. The guests of honour for the evening included the Director of the Andy Warhol Museum, Mr Eric Shiner, the Deputy Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services (Culture), Ms Cynthia Liu, the Assistant Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services (Heritage & Museums), Dr Louis Ng, and the Chairman of the Friends, Mrs Nancy Lee. The funds raised by the Friends help to support important educational initiatives, including a free coach service for school groups to attend Museum exhibitions, a summer art camp for underprivileged children, lectures and cultural programmes for the public, donation of artworks to the Museum collection and support for Museum publications.
