With the aim to enhance the district environment, stimulate artistic excellence and innovation and reflect the district characteristics through the creation of unique site-specific outdoor public artworks, the Project intends to commission 4 selected artworks through an open call for proposals for production and installation in three LCSD's venues in Sai Kung District, namely Man Yee Playground in Sai Kung, Po Tsui Park and Po Kong Park in Tseung Kwan O.
The Project was launched to open call for proposals in May and received 116 preliminary proposals from 58 participants (individual/ team) before the deadline on 6 July.
The first stage of adjudication meeting was held on 29 July. There are seven members in the adjudication panel including Mr Fan Kwok Wai, Gary (Member of Sai Kung District Council), Mr Ho Koon Shun (Member of Sai Kung District Council and Executive Member of Sai Kung Rural Committee), Mr Wan Yuet Kau BBS, JP (Vice-chairman of Sai Kung District Council), Mr Fung Wing Kee, Raymond (Expert Adviser of LCSD and experienced architect), Mr Ha Bik Chuen (President of Hong Kong Sculpture Society and experienced sculptor), Dr Ma Kwai Shun (Expert Adviser of LCSD and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, The Hong Kong Institute of Education) and Mr Wong Shu Yan, Francis (District Leisure Manager, Sai Kung).
