Conceptual Photography and Photo-editing Workshop
This workshop gives participants a thorough understanding on how issues and concepts are related to the processes used to communicate them. Participants will be introduced to photographic works by conceptual artists who communicate their works in both traditional (photography) and non-traditional ways (edited/digitalized photography). The thrust of the workshop motivates participants to explore and discover various processes that can be used when communicating their ideas with photographs.

Experimental short films by three artists, Maya Deren, Chel White and Takagi Masakatsu, have been chosen in this season¡¦s screening. They translate their observation of dreams, fantasies and surrounding world into moving images which are emotional, astonishing and sometimes poetic.

Maya Deren¡GExperimental Films
Maya Deren, the mother of the avant-garde on film art. Her experimental works are packed with various thematic motifs such as psychological states and surrealism and yet exploits space, time and movement on film. This screening showcases collected short films by Maya Deren completed between 1943 ¡X 1959, these works also see her long-term working relationship with Alexander Hammid and Teiji Ito.

Fever Dreams and Heavenly Nightmares ¢w the short films of Chel White
A collection of films by Chel White in the past 20 years, in Fever Dreams and Heavenly Nightmare, we will see a series of award-winning short films in Sundance Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival and Rotterdam Film Festival etc. This screening brings us closer to the works of Chel White whose works are famous for the use of allegory and black humour to observe and to paint the indelible human experiences such as love, obsessions, memories and dreams.

Journal for People by Takagi Masakatsu
Takagi Masakastsu is the most notable new generation artist¡þmusician in Japan at the moment. His works is a combination of music and video which are highly experimental yet contemporary. His works are widely screened internationally, for example at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Tokyo), SketchGallery (London), Esplanade (Singapore).
