2nd Asia-Pacific Art Education Conference

In order to strengthen academic exchange and enhance regional collaboration in art education, the 2nd Asia-Pacific Art Education Conference will be held in Hong Kong this December. The theme of the conference is•Art • Education • Community• with the Department of Creative Arts of The Hong Kong Institute of Education as organizer in collaboration with the following organizations as co-organizers•Po Leung Kuk, Hong Kong Society for Education In Art, Art Promotion Office, LCSD, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, LCSD, Hong Kong Museum of Art, LCSD and Curriculum Development Institute of Education Manpower Bureau. The Hong Kong Arts Development Council is the major sponsor of the conference.

The aim of the conference is to explore the interactive relationships between art, education and community with a view to strengthen the active role of art in education and community. More than 29 distinguished speakers from USA, Australia, Canada, China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong will present papers on various topics with reference to current art education development from regional perspectives. Other topic areas include: Education Reform and Community Arts Education, Integrative Learning in the Arts and Interdisciplinary Learning Across Key Learning Areas, Teacher Education and Development of Partnership in Art Education, School-based Curriculum and Community-based Art Education, Visual Culture, Community Art and Museum Art Education, Arts Education and Creative Industry, Multiculturalism and Cultural Identity.

Participants are invited to present papers or organize workshops that address the theme and topic areas of the conference. The deadline of submission of proposal is 15.7.2004. Relevant activities will be organized in conjunction with the conference, including Exhibition of Artworks by Asia-Pacific Students, School-based Art Exhibition : Teaching & Learning of Community Culture, Exhibition of Creative Artworks by Hong Kong Secondary & Primary Students, Exhibition of Art Teaching Resource and post-conference visit.

All conference participants are required to pre-register. The Conference fee includes attendance at all sessions, exhibitions, programme book, proceedings, conference folder, 3-day lunches, tea/coffee breaks. Deadline : 15.10.2004.
