ArtAlive@Park is a large-scale public art project that sets out to showcase young people's artistic talents in local parks. It also aims to make art accessible to all sectors of the community and to bring people to the arts. To be held from May to August this year, ArtAlive@Park 2014 has invited the schools of design of three local tertiary institutions to work as the artistic collaborators: professors and artists from the schools will lead the participating students as they integrate design with art and explore the unlimited possibilities of parks from an artistic perspective.
ArtAlive@Park has received a wide and wonderfully enthusiastic welcome since it was first launched in 2009 as Budding Winter, which was followed by ArtAlive@Park in 2010 and 2012 organised by the Art Promotion Office. These programmes invited different local tertiary institutes to create works of art for public parks. The marvellous programme of art activities that accompanied "ArtAlive@Park" attracted many visitors and were the subject of extensive media attention.
ArtAlive@Park 2014 will be held at Central and Western District Promenade (Central Section). Designed with elegant simplicity, this park offers panoramic views of the picturesque Victoria Harbour that cohere brilliantly with the works of art. Some of the works will be turned into useful, innovative and interactive pieces of furniture that will become harmonious parts of the park's environment, enhancing the venue as a place for artistic relaxation for busy citizens amid the hustle and bustle of Central, the heart of Hong Kong's commercial and banking activities.
Date: 20.5 – 19.8.2014
Time: 24 hours
Venue: Central and Western District Promenade (Central Section)
What's more, our programme partner HULU Culture has invited a variety of famous performing arts groups to present a series of special programmes accompanying the event. In addition to guided tours of the works of art, there will also be music and dance performances and a parent-child carnival, all designed on a specific theme. Don't miss these fun-filled activities!
