| About APO | Oi! Come art with us This May, the Art Promotion Office will launch its brand new look and an exciting new Oil Street Art Space – Oi!. The venue of Oi! is the former clubhouse of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. Situated at 12 Oil Street in North Point, this cluster of red brick structures is classed as a Grade 2 historic building. The site, which also saw service as the staff quarters of the former Government Supplies Department and the home of an artists' cluster, the former Oil Street Artist Village. Enriched by its historical background, Oi! will open with a fresh, young and creative image and welcome the public with an easy-going and friendly greeting, ‘Oi! Come art with us'. We hope Oi! will become a favourite place for the creation of art. Oi! offers indoor and outdoor spaces for art, including two exhibition rooms and a beautiful lawn. By holding art projects at this art space, we aim to establish a platform for creativity, displays and interaction among young artists in Hong Kong. We also want to showcase how art can be cohesively and harmoniously integrated in the community and provide the public with the experience of art seamlessly blending into their daily life. And in the end, perhaps we can develop our very own local art culture, a spontaneous Oi! for our times! Oi! Come art with us! Lesley Lau Chief Curator of the Art Promotion Office | |
