Produced in commemoration of the Xinhai Revolution’s 100th anniversary, this action-packed historical epic depicts the life of Qiu Jin, possibly one of the first feminist revolutionary fighters in contemporary Chinese history. Like Ip Man in Herman’s The Legend is Born: Ip Man and Ip Man: Final Fight (2010), Qiu Jin is a fierce warrior and a progressive thinker who never gives in. While Legend , Mirror Lake and Final Fight are all stories about the development of modern China, Mirror Lake was unfortunately the only film among the three to be largely overlooked by audience. As a result, Herman specifically picked this film for the program to engage in an in-depth discussion with the audience. Don’t miss it!
