The young and vivacious Maria is not a usual apprentice nun. Unable to follow rules in the convent, she is sent to the house of Colonel von Trapp to be a tutor for his children. Maria replaces the Colonel’s military like discipline with song and dance, eventually moving the Colonel and marrying him. Julie Andrews’ memorable voice and wonderful performances by all the actors, against a backdrop of beautiful Salzburg combine to make the film a longstanding hit all over the world.
