Sammo Hung concocts an entertaining mishmash of a war film, a martial arts adventure and even a dash of romance with Eastern Condors. In addition to directing, Hung also stars as the leader in a ragtag group of convicts charged with the task of recovering abandoned American munitions before Viet Cong soldiers get to them. Better known for their brawns than brains, this group of soldiers can be seen as a portrait of Hong Kongers: They may have a murky sense of morality, but they're also hardworking people who can band together and get the job done at critical moments. Aside from Hung, look for Yuen Biao, Yuen Wah, Yuen Woo-ping, The Killing Fields (1984) Academy Award-winning actor Dr. Haing S. Ngor and even Joyce Mina Godenzi (also known as Mrs. Hung) in scene-stealing supporting roles.
