Yam Kim-fai (1913-1989), remembered by many for her elegant acting and natural and compassionate singing voice, is having her 100th birth anniversary next year. Yam’s stage and screen performances had gone through a career that spread from the 30s to the 60s, with over 300 film titles being made since the early 50s. The Film Archive is taking this opportunity to showcase 10 films of Yam Kim-fai, with a selection that covers a number of her screen partners.
