Hong Wei, known better as the mother of the filmmaker brothers Paul Chun, John Chiang and Derek Yee, was an accomplished actor in her own right, gaining a reputation for playing characters older than her own age. In this heart-warming comedy, she brought the maternal qualities of patience, understanding and affection to her role as the mother of a naturally curious daughter (Jeanette Lin Tsui) turned amateur detective. Despite the notable lack of surviving films under Hong's credits, we've salvaged this crown jewel and included it in the program as a tribute to a consummate professional and a devoted mother, who passed away last October at the age of 93.
