This film is adapted from the folktale “Chamber of Powder and Rouge”. Leung Sing-po plays Wu Fui, an oriental Robinhood based in Chicken-claw Mountain, while handsome Kwan Hoi-shan and Yu Kai are Law Chan and Law Kwun, two chivalrous brothers. After his son is humiliated by the Law brothers, the wicked prime minister falsely accuses their father of surrendering to the enemy. As a result, the Law family members become fugitives. Law Kwun escapes to his fiancé’s (Lam Fung) home, but is tricked and arrested. Wu Fui cuts off the head of a corrupt official and sells it in the market in order to get himself thrown into prison, so as to help Law Kwun escape. Wu Fui gathers evidence of the prime minister’s treachery and brings him to justice. Director Lo Yu-kei, who started out as a screenwriter, portrays the characters meticulously, painting the many characters in the complex plot with clearly defined personalities.
