Between 1964 and 1966, Yuen Siu-fai, Connie Chan Po-chu and Josephine Siao Fong-fong formed an iron triangle of sorts, working together on four Monkey King films. In their second film together, the Monkey King (Yuen) exposes an evil plot hatched by the Flower Fairy (Chan) to trap Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang. However, Sanzang mistakenly believes that his mischievous disciple is up to no good again and expels him from their quest. When Monkey King is told that his master and brothers-in-arms are in trouble, he goes back to rescue them. With a little help from the Goddess of Mercy, Sun retrieves his friends and defeats the evil spirits in battle.
