Based on a novel by Evan Yang, The Girl with a Thousand Faces is a musical that celebrates the fun and innocence of the 1950s while paying tribute to an earlier generation of sing-song films, reminding audiences of how things had changed. The versatile Grace Chang plays a double role that embodies the two major personas of Mandarin musicals, one an energetic, optimistic mambo girl and the other her mother, a hapless songstress who personifies the tragic disposition of an earlier era in Mandarin cinema.
