Jackie Chan became Jackie Chan in New Fist of Fury. This is the first film for which he used this moniker, emerging from the obscurity of his Yuen Lau days to assume top billing. Lo Wei directed this "Bruceploitation film", a sequel to Fist of Fury (1972) and part of a mini-genre that tried to cash in on Bruce Lee's legacy. A star wasn't really born in this enterprise but Chan soldiered on, making several films with Lo and eventually attaining stardom a few years later with Snake in the Eagle's Shadow (1978).
