It's befitting of the dramatic turns in the life and time of the Yuen Clan boys that kung fu meister Sammo Hung’s first name part, billed as Chu Yuen-lung, is in a genteel film about education, adapted from Edmondo de Amicis's heartwarming book Cuore, a film version of which was very popular in Hong Kong. The not-yet teenage Hung is at once easy and difficult to recognize, thin and timid in the role of a student from a poor family, yet glowing with a star quality that foretells the greatness to come.
