Another deeply touching production by Yu Hon Ting
A gentle and modest-looking widow, Grace (Gladys Liu), is a devout Christian. Inspired by a calling, she secretly sets up a sanctuary house in the countryside to house women who have a bad deal in life. Living in the same house are the sexy and tough-looking Kazy (Tam Tsz Ling) and the soft-spoken Sek-nam (Joe Wong), who serve her hand and foot, and under her instructions, go out to work and return exhausted day in and day out. The sight of Karl (Him Wu) the courier delivering a parcel every day is a fixture of the house. Apart from occasional visits from Grace's father-in-law Cliff (Chung Yat Ming), the house is very quiet, albeit being shrouded in an eerie mistiness…..
The story begins with the checking in of the teenage Zoe (Alice Fung), who has been so badly beaten that she will not be able to have a baby. Under Grace's guidance, Zoe quickly integrates into life in the sanctuary, while also gradually coming to realise that it is actually a place for training the victims to plan revenge by punishing or even killing the abusers….. Worse still, the supposedly sterile Zoe finds herself pregnant. Faced with a pregnant Zoe, a tormented Sek-nam, and Kazy who runs away, Grace finds her holy life begin to crumble. It seems like the secret sides of her are being dragged out from the deep: her fears of people, her breaking up with God, and all those questions she has for herself…..
Who has been in control of the development of events from the very beginning? God's will, or the demon in us?
