Betrayal and seduction are played out in full
In the grand mansion, one out of the eight is the killer
A French black comedy brimming with humour, feminine glamour, and the absurd
France. The 1950’s. It is Christmas Eve and a large family in a secluded grand mansion is celebrating happily the holidays, when the master is found murdered!
All eight women in the mansion, all closely related to the deceased, are all potential suspects. There is the middle-class elegant wife who has had a precarious on and off relationship with her husband; the wife's spinster younger sister, mean but secretly enamoured of her brother-in-law; the man's paraplegic mother-in-law whose wealth of stocks and shares guarantee a comfortable life in her old age except that she is bound to the wheelchair; the two lovely daughters, one an avid reader of detective stories and the other, a chic and stylish returnee from school in Britain; the dead man's sister, a former striptease queen who has twisted men round her little finger; and finally, the two maids, one a loving motherly figure for the children, and the other, nonchalant and coquettish. One out of the eight is the killer. All with their own agendas and guarding their own positions, they are anxious to expose one another's dark secrets… So here in the grand mansion, betrayal and seduction are played out in full. With scene after scene of humour-filled situations, the whole lot are edging closer to the truth which may yet prove too much for them to bear…
