Performed in Cantonese, Putonghua and English with Chinese and English surtitles
Adapted from Federico Garcia Lorca's play The House of Bernarda Alba
Women without men
A tragic tale of frustration, suppressed sexuality and explosive passions within a house ruled by a tyrant obsessed with power and snobbery
“I touched her sleeping breasts and they opened to me suddenly like spikes of hyacinth. The starch of her petticoat sounded in my ears like a piece of silk rent by ten knives. The people swallow their sobbing and in the green mirrors long trails of silk move. The men kept to themselves. The women kept to themselves. And a horizon of dogs barked very far from the river" – Frederico Garcia Lorca
"Not even the wind from the street will enter this house..."
Theatre du Pif's new adaption of Lorca's masterpiece brings together performers from Hong Kong and the Mainland in a burning fusion of contemporary dance and brilliant theatre.
