Steven Berkoff, the British playwright known for his macabre humour, reconstructs a Jesus who is a revolutionary and a politician, capable of manipulating history and popular opinion to achieve his aims. To fulfill the hyped up prophecy, Jesus goes about staging his own resurrection as a stunt show with the support of his twelve disciples. We look up to him, we worship him, and we let ourselves be guided by him – yet, is it just because we are willing to be taken in?
