Yuki Ip is a graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She is an emerging artist in both concert and operatic scenes. Her major credits include her debut in New York City as soprano soloist in An-lun Huang's Revelation (2006), concert performance as Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill's Street Scene with Singapore Lyric Opera (2005), and debut with Macao Orchestra in the 6th Macao Handover Anniversary Concert (2005).
Jovita Leung began her training at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), studying with Margreta Elkins. Then she continued her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Australia, studying with Janet Delpratt. After that, Leung studied with Joy Mammen at the Royal Academy of Music. In 1998, Jovita started teaching at the HKAPA, The Hong Kong Institute of Education and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is very active in the local music scenes and has performed in many productions including singing Frasquita in Carmen presented by the Provisional Urban Council. She was invited to perform for President Jiang Zemin during his visit to Hong Kong for the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
Margaret Yim graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying under Margreta Elkins. She then furthered her study in the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Australia under Jane Delpratt. She won prizes from the Bach Music Competition in Australia 1995, Singing Contest for Asian Chinese in Taiwan as well as being the finalist of the San Francisco Opera Center Merola Opera Program, 1994, etc. In 2003, she was honorably invited to perform in a celebration performance of the National Day of China in Beijing. Margaret is currently a private vocal instructor as well as the vocal lecturer of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Carol Lin is a graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying under Katusha Tsui-Fraser. After graduation, she continued her vocal studies with Oliver Lo. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance, studying under the American mezzo-soprano Delores Ziegler at the New England Conservatory in Boston. She has also performed with many major performing groups extensively in opera productions and concerts.
After her graduation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Melody Sze furthered her studies in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and the Boston University. She is currently a teaching assistant and a Doctor of Musical Arts student at the Michigan State University. She also serves as faculty in MSU Community Music School. She was a winner in last year's NATS Michigan audition Advanced Men and Women. She has taken principal operatic roles in many opera productions with high acclaim. Melody has participated actively as a concert soloist and in a number of other vocal works with various orchestras in Hong Kong and the States.
Born in Penang, Malaysia, David Quah is a graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Australia and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. While in Queensland he won the coveted Marianne Mathy Australian Singing Competition. In 2000, Quah started coaching at HKAPA and he performs regularly in Hong Kong and South East Asia. Over the years, Quah has sung many operatic roles and appeared on concert platforms in many places in North America, Europe and Asia.
Alex Tam graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London. He began his music studies at an early age under Chiang Wai-man, and continued his studies under the tutelage of Rosaline Pi, Derek Anthony and Michael Rippon. Tam studied with Joy Mammen at the RAM where he had sung in masterclass by Dennis O'Neill and Robert Tear. He performed his first major role at the age of 19 as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi and this success was followed by his performance of other lead characters.
Albert Lim is a graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal College of Music. He has also performed numerous operatic roles. In April 2007, he was invited by the Shanghai Opera House to sing the role of Dancairo in Bizet's Carmen by the Shanghai Opera House under the baton of Michel Plasson.
Edmund Kwan has extensive experience in solo roles in both opera and oratorio, and has performed as Johann in the Royal Northern College of Music production of Massenet's Werther, Neptune in Cesti's Il pomo doro in Italy Batignano Opera Festival and Dancairo in Bizet's Carmen in Le French May 2006. He was a student of Ho Hat, Ella Kiang, Kevin Miller, Michael Rippon, Robert Alderson and Derek Anthony.
Timmy Tsang graduated at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has been the repetiteur for various operas such as Don Pasquale, Una Cosa Rara, Die Zauberflöte, La Bohème, Aïda, Die Fledermaus, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica and l'Elisir d'Amore. Timmy has been working fulltime at The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts as a Lecturer (Vocal and Academic Studies). He teaches aural training and is a voice coach and conducts the Academy Choir.
Nina Yip received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance at the Indiana University. She studied piano with Karen Shaw and Herbert Seidel, and voice with Camilla Williams. Altogether in her career, Nina has coached and worked on over 70 opera and operetta productions and has worked with conductors such as Tim Shaindlin, Steven Sloane, Georg Tintner and David Stern, and with such singers as Maria Ewing, Gino Quilico and Charlotte Church. |
